Agriculteurs de Bretagne Visit Peny

On Wednesday, 13 February, the d’aucy Group welcomed some 40 partners – farmers and companies – from the association Agriculteurs de Bretagne (“Farmers of Brittany”) to its Peny site in Saint-Thurien. Over and above a tour of the plant, which was highly appreciated by the participants, the chief goal of Agriculteurs de Bretagne was to spend some time with its members in a less formal setting than a general meeting, to engage with them and present a review of the actions implemented over the previous year.

The association Agriculteurs de Bretagne was founded in 2011 by a group of farmers who were convinced that Brittany’s agricultural and agri-food industries would be the primary lever for the region’s development, and that it was important to work together to bolster their image, which has not always been sufficiently showcased. Following that strategy, the association carries out collective actions to promote a positive image of Breton agriculture, with the support of more than 2,500 farmers and 127 companies in the region.

As a co-operative agri-food group based in Brittany, it was only natural for the d’aucy Group to get on board with that strategy, which it did in March 2016 in order to take an active role in strengthening the image of Breton agriculture, namely through actions spotlighting its farmers and its expertise.

By holding this day of events at Peny’s industrial site, the d’aucy Group was able to explain some of its downstream activities in a presentation given by Plant Manager Marc Basset.
Serge Le Bartz, Chairman of the d’aucy Group but also a farmer, spoke as well, introducing the planned union of the two co-operative groups, d’aucy and Triskalia, and reminded the audience of the importance of that merger for agriculture in Brittany.
